Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has recounted two incidents involving dead birds, including a vulture he said he discovered on his bed after winning the governorship election.
Speaking at a church gathering, Okpebholo described returning home after days without sleep following his election victory. He said an unexpected occurrence stopped him from jumping onto his bed.
“I was tired. I had not slept for days and I wanted to jump into the bed, something held me back,” the governor said.
He recalled looking at the bed and discovering the bird.
“I looked on the bed and I saw a vulture on my bed, dead,” he said.
Okpebholo interpreted the incident as a sign of victory, attaching spiritual significance to the experience.
He also claimed that another bird died in his office after he ordered the demolition of the Black House in Sapele.
The governor did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding either bird’s death in the account.
