The United States has carried out a seventh straight night of military operations against targets in Iran, according to the US military, underscoring the continued escalation in hostilities after President Donald Trump declared that a temporary ceasefire arrangement had ended.
In an operational update, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces struck a range of military-related facilities, including surveillance installations, logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage sites and maritime assets. The operation involved fighter aircraft, naval vessels, drones and other military platforms before concluding at approximately 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The latest exchange of attacks came as conflicting claims emerged over developments in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic shipping route through which a significant share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that two oil tankers exploded after travelling through a mined section of the waterway. CENTCOM rejected the allegation, describing it as inaccurate and insisting there was no evidence supporting the claim.
Commercial shipping activity in the Strait of Hormuz has remained heavily disrupted as military operations between Washington and Tehran continue, raising concerns over global energy supplies and maritime security.
Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations, including the central city of Yazd, Qeshm Island and the port city of Bandar Abbas, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz. The reports did not immediately provide independent confirmation of the extent of the damage.
Elsewhere, Jordan’s armed forces said they intercepted 10 Iranian missiles that entered the country’s airspace overnight. Authorities reported no casualties or damage from the interceptions.
The latest strikes follow Iranian claims that its military had targeted multiple US military facilities across the Gulf region, including installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and, for the first time, Syria. Washington has denied those assertions.
Kuwaiti officials separately reported that Iranian drone attacks injured several military personnel and caused damage to power generation and water desalination facilities.
Meanwhile, US media, citing unnamed sources, reported that several American service members were injured during recent Iranian attacks on military bases in Jordan.
The United States has also rejected accusations that its operations struck civilian infrastructure inside Iran. Iranian provincial officials in Hormozgan reported casualties following recent attacks, while US officials maintained that only military objectives were targeted.
Independent verification of footage circulating online has shown damage to Gariveh Bridge, where nighttime videos captured a large fire before daylight images revealed a collapsed section of the roadway.
A White House spokesperson reiterated that US operations were directed solely at military facilities and logistical infrastructure.
The latest military actions mark one week of sustained nightly US strikes since diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran broke down, with tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continuing to complicate attempts to negotiate a longer-term ceasefire.
