Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain Buba Galadima has alleged that former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi is coordinating a group of seven opposition figures working to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Galadima made the allegation on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he expressed confidence that the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would win if the election is free and fair.
According to Galadima, he is among seven opposition figures working under Fayemi’s coordination against Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“I also want to say publicly that I am one of the group of opposition candidates, seven of us, under the coordination of Governor Fayemi Kayode, working on that, and we are making progress,” he said.
When asked what the group was working to achieve, Galadima responded: “To defeat Tinubu.”
The allegation was also highlighted in a post by a media aide to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The aide said he would not believe the claim until Fayemi publicly debunks it.
Fayemi, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has previously criticised the ruling party.
On March 23, 2026, the APC National Secretary urged Fayemi to leave the party if he no longer believed in its ideals. The party also warned that disciplinary measures could be taken against the former governor over alleged anti-party activities.
Galadima’s claim that Fayemi is coordinating seven opposition figures has not been independently established in the information available for this report.
