21 Vehicles Affected as Fire Hits Lagos Mechanic Workshop

A fire that broke out at a mechanic workshop in Isheri-Idimu, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, damaged 21 vehicles but caused no deaths or injuries, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has said.

The blaze, which started at about 3:05am on Oladunni Street beside Eternal Filling Station, was brought under control before it could spread to the adjoining petrol station and nearby buildings.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency activated its Dolphin Response Team stationed at Igando after receiving a distress call.

Responders found several exotic vehicles parked inside the workshop, which was close to the filling station. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Nigeria Police Force supported the emergency operation.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the fire was completely extinguished and damping-down operations had been completed. A section of a nearby building sustained minor damage.

He commended the emergency personnel for preventing the fire from spreading and urged residents to observe safety precautions, particularly in workshops where inflammable materials are handled.

LASEMA advised members of the public to report emergencies through the toll-free numbers 767 and 112.
