Valencia sack Corberan, CEO Gourlay after winless La Liga start

Valencia have dismissed head coach Carlos Corberan and chief executive Ron Gourlay following a difficult opening to the La Liga season.

The club made the announcement on Sunday after recording four defeats in their first five league matches, leaving them at the bottom of the standings without a victory.

Valencia said the changes were intended to begin “a new era” in the club’s sporting structure and football management.

Reserve-team coach Oscar Sanchez will take temporary charge of the first team while Valencia begin the search for a permanent replacement for Corberan.

The managerial change comes amid continuing unrest among Valencia supporters, who have repeatedly protested against the club’s Singaporean owner, Peter Lim, and his son Kiat.

Kiat has served as Valencia president since March 2025.
