US Congressman Riley Moore has defended President Donald Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), calling for renewed efforts to address violence against Christians.
Moore made the remarks in a post on his verified X account to mark the anniversary of the designation, alleging that Christians in Nigeria and other parts of the world continued to face severe violence and persecution.
“One year ago, President Trump made the right decision to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern,” he wrote.
“Christians in Nigeria, and around the world, continue to face unspeakable violence. On this anniversary, we must rededicate our efforts to defend Christians in Nigeria and anywhere they face persecution,” the congressman added.
He urged the international community and the Nigerian government to take decisive steps to protect Christians and address religious persecution.
