President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria from his extended working vacation in Europe, dismissing concerns that emerged during his absence and saying he is “healthy, sound, and ready to go.”
Tinubu spoke with journalists in Lagos on Tuesday after arriving from France, where he spent the latter part of his stay abroad.
Asked about the concerns, Tinubu said there was nothing wrong with him.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” he said.
“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go.”
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week working vacation, travelling first to London before proceeding to Paris. The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay, saying he remained in contact with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct government affairs.
His prolonged absence prompted public debate, including political disagreements over the length of his stay.
The African Action Congress also sued Tinubu and the National Assembly, alleging that the President failed to notify the legislature before leaving the country.
Tinubu is expected to resume official engagements ahead of the October 1 Independence anniversary.
