The wife of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Dr Nonye Soludo, has denied a claim that former governor Peter Obi is the godfather of one of her children.
The clarification followed the circulation of a video in which Obi was heard referring to himself as the godfather of one of the governor’s sons.
In a statement issued by the First Lady’s Media Assistant, Dan Ezeigwe, Mrs Soludo said the claim was false and that it had generated calls and enquiries from members of the public and the media.
She said the relationship between the two families remained cordial but should not be misrepresented.
Mrs Soludo explained that she is the confirmation godmother to Obi’s daughter, while Obi’s wife, Margaret, is the baptismal godmother to one of the Soludos’ daughters.
She added that neither Obi nor Soludo had served as a godparent to the other’s children.
Mrs Soludo said Obi may have misspoken while making his remarks, but stressed that the clarification was necessary because of the widespread circulation of the video.
