The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has arrested six women suspected of engaging in sex work during an enforcement operation in Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area.
The arrests were made at the weekend in the Abuja area of Gadaka by operatives of the commission’s Fika command.
The commission’s Head of Administration in Fika LGA, Musa Abari Talba, said the operation also covered locations suspected of selling and processing alcoholic drinks.
He said the exercise combined enforcement with awareness campaigns, with operatives cautioning residents against activities the commission considers contrary to the law and community values.
“The operation was carried out by our men at the weekend in the Abuja area of Gadaka. Six women suspected of engaging in sex work were arrested,” Talba said.
He added that the operatives used the exercise to encourage residents to comply with the law and avoid practices considered harmful to the community.
Talba said similar operations would continue across the local government as part of efforts to enforce compliance and promote orderly communities.
