Security personnel have been deployed across Kaduna metropolis ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s expected arrival on Saturday for the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign.
Police officers, plain-clothes operatives and personnel from other security agencies were stationed at major roads and roundabouts, while patrol vehicles were seen around Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue for the rally.
The deployment also covers campaign materials displayed across the city, including posters of Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani bearing welcome messages. Personnel of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were assigned to protect the materials, particularly at night when they could be vulnerable to vandalism.
Preparations at the stadium continued on Friday, with the 8,000-capacity venue repainted and decorated with APC flags. Roads leading to the facility were lined with posters and billboards, while pavilions, toilets and other facilities were readied for attendees. Access to the stadium grounds had been restricted ahead of the event.
Tinubu is expected to attend the flag-off alongside governors from the seven states in the North-West, with party members and political stakeholders anticipated from across the country.
Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, who chairs the rally’s Local Organising Committee, said she was satisfied with the level of preparation and expressed expectations of a large turnout.
She described the North-West as an APC stronghold as the party prepares to formally begin its campaign for the 2027 presidential election.
