Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying voters in the state will back the President to continue his development projects.
Yusuf made the declaration on Wednesday at the commissioning of a section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway at Tamburawa in Kano State, where he represented Tinubu.
The governor praised the Federal Government’s infrastructure projects, saying the highway would improve transportation across Northern Nigeria.
He also argued that several projects carried out under the Tinubu administration had received little public attention.
“I have seen many projects the President has executed that have not been publicised. I could go on and on listing the projects and initiatives of this administration,” Yusuf said.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would receive support from voters in Kano and other parts of the country in the next general election.
Works Minister Dave Umahi, who also spoke on infrastructure development in the North, said the Tinubu administration had continued projects inherited from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“There is no project started by the late President Buhari that President Bola Tinubu is not doing in the North,” Umahi said.
The minister listed ongoing projects including the Kano Northern Bypass, Kano Ring Road, Kano-Kongolam road and Zari-Hunkuyi road.
He said work was also underway on the Sokoto-Zamfara-Zaria road, while some projects inherited by the administration had been redesigned to use reinforced concrete pavement.
According to Umahi, the Federal Government has completed nearly 400 kilometres of roads in the North-West within three years, with about 4,000 kilometres of road projects currently underway across the region.
Umahi said the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway would serve communities beyond the North-West and improve road connectivity to other parts of Nigeria.
