In a letter dated October 21, 2026 and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC proposed November 11 for the event.

The party also asked the Presidency to provide food, drinks and other logistical support for an expected 5,000 attendees from Nigeria and abroad.

AAC said its request was prompted by arrangements it said had been extended to the All Progressives Congress for a similar political event.

The opposition party argued that allowing it access to the facility would demonstrate equal treatment of political parties and prevent partisan discrimination in the use of public institutions.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties,” the party said, approval would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and equal access.

AAC also asked the Presidency to provide details of the procedures and conditions it would need to meet before using the Banquet Hall.

The party said it was awaiting a favourable response to the request.
