Gary Neville has sharply criticised Manchester United’s performance in their 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham, describing the team’s display as an “absolute disgrace”.
United fell behind after Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net, before Matheus Cunha’s deflected effort rescued a point for Ruben Amorim’s side.
The result left United 12th in the Premier League after five matches, with their points tally matching the club’s joint-lowest return at this stage of a Premier League season.
Neville, a former United captain, was particularly critical of the team’s performance immediately after half-time and during the opening hour.
“I rarely say teams don’t make an effort because that’s the ultimate criticism,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
“That first 15 minutes of the second half, and generally the first 60 minutes, United were an absolute disgrace.”
He added that he had followed the club since childhood but could not recall seeing a worse 15-minute spell from United.
“I’ve never seen such a lack of effort,” Neville said.
The former England international also called for changes to the club’s approach, saying there “needs to be a reset in terms of structure” following another disappointing league result.
