In a statement issued on Saturday, APC PCC spokesperson Dele Alake said the opposition was allegedly preparing to circulate misleading content targeting President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other party leaders.

The allegations came as the APC prepared to launch its 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna, with the rally scheduled for 10am on Saturday, October 24.

Alake cited two items circulating online: images of a security vehicle near an APC campaign billboard and a purported letter claiming that the Kaduna State Government had released N2.3 trillion to fund the rally.

He alleged that opposition figures had misrepresented the security vehicle’s presence, describing it as a routine patrol rather than a deployment to protect campaign materials.

The campaign council also rejected the purported letter attributed to Governor Uba Sani and addressed to APC PCC Director-General Senator Abdulaziz Yari. Alake questioned the credibility of the claimed expenditure, arguing that it exceeded the state’s combined budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026.

The statement put those budgets at N458.271 billion for 2024, N790.439 billion for 2025 and N985.9 billion for 2026, figures which Alake said collectively remained below the alleged N2.3 trillion allocation.

He further accused Atiku and ADC supporters of planning to circulate old, altered or AI-generated videos during the rally to create the impression of public opposition to the event.

The council described the alleged activities as an attempt to manipulate public opinion and urged Nigerians to be cautious about content circulating online.

Alake also claimed that Atiku had shared a newspaper report concerning the controversy through his verified social media accounts. The campaign council presented this as part of its allegations, but the statement did not independently establish the authenticity or origin of all the material in circulation.

The accusations had not, in the statement, been accompanied by independently verified evidence establishing that Atiku or the ADC organised the alleged operation.

The dispute adds to political tensions ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as the APC prepares to begin its campaign and opposition parties challenge the Tinubu administration’s record and political messaging.
