The Kano State Government has presented financial assistance and relief materials to the family of Inspector Sani Haladu, a police officer who died while carrying out his official duties, reaffirming its commitment to supporting security personnel and their families.
The donation, announced by the Kano State Police Command, includes a cash gift of ₦1 million alongside essential food items intended to provide immediate support to the bereaved household.
Relief Package Presented at Police Headquarters
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, the welfare package was formally presented at the Kano State Police Command Headquarters by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Tajo Othman, who represented the state government.
The items donated to the family include:
- ₦1 million in financial assistance
- Five bags of rice
- Six bags of spaghetti
- Six bags of macaroni
- Two 25-litre containers of vegetable oil
The government said the intervention was aimed at providing support to the family of the late officer, who lost his life in the line of duty on March 27, 2026.
Police Commend Government’s Gesture
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Lawal Isa Mani, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, describing the assistance as a thoughtful gesture that reflects the strong working relationship between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force.
He paid tribute to the late Inspector Haladu, describing him as a committed and courageous officer who served both the police command and the people of Kano State with dedication until his death.
According to him, the support offered to the deceased officer’s family sends a positive message to serving personnel that their sacrifices are recognised and appreciated.
He added that welfare initiatives of this nature could help strengthen morale among officers who continue to perform security duties across the state.
Commitment to Officers’ Welfare
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano State Government for prioritising the welfare of police personnel and their families.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security across Kano State’s 44 local government areas, while assuring the family of the late inspector of the police command’s continued support.
Bakori further encouraged officers and personnel of the command to remain disciplined, professional and committed to their responsibilities despite the challenges associated with policing.
Call for Public Cooperation
The police commissioner also appealed to residents to continue partnering with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent crime and improve public safety.
He noted that cooperation between the public and law enforcement remains essential to strengthening security efforts throughout the state.
The Kano State Police Command said it appreciates the state government’s continued support for police welfare, describing the latest intervention as another demonstration of its commitment to recognising the sacrifices made by officers in the discharge of their duties.
