INSECURITY: Sunday Igboho Awaits Federal Approval to Flush Criminals from South-West Forests
IBADAN, NIGERIA — High-profile Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has announced that his newly formed security outfit is ready for deployment across the South-West region, pending final clearance from the Federal Government.
The initiative, registered as the Iru Ekun Security Network, aims to launch targeted operations to dislodge terrorists, bandits, and kidnapping syndicates currently nesting in the region’s vast forest reserves.
In a press statement released on Monday, Adeyemo disclosed that all formal documentation and procedural requirements have been submitted to federal authorities.
“We have submitted all the required documents for our registered security firm, Iru Ekun Security Network, and are only waiting for the Federal Government approval, which will be granted soon,” Adeyemo stated.
Collaboration with State and Federal Forces
Seeking to distance his new venture from past controversial, unilateral actions, Adeyemo emphasized that the Iru Ekun Security Network is designed to operate strictly within institutional boundaries. He affirmed his outfit’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with Nigeria’s primary defense and intelligence agencies.
“We are absolutely ready to collaborate with the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant stakeholders,” the statement read.
Furthermore, Adeyemo explicitly declared his intention to comply with the newly enacted Executive Order issued by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which establishes strict regulatory frameworks for private security organizations operating within the state.
Securing the Agricultural Belt
The push to clear the forests comes amidst a sharp uptick in rural criminality, including highway ambushes and farm-gate abductions that directly threaten regional stability. Adeyemo noted that protecting these vulnerable rural zones is vital for broader economic survival.
