FG confirms September 14 resumption for federal unity colleges

The Federal Government has confirmed that students and staff of federal unity colleges across Nigeria will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The Federal Ministry of Education announced the resumption in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said measures had been put in place to support a safe return to school as the new academic session begins.

He said security agencies had been notified of the resumption arrangements and would maintain heightened vigilance around the colleges and their surrounding areas.

“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.

The minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and prepare their children for the Monday resumption.

He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly return.

Alausa urged students, parents, teachers and administrators to contribute to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment across the colleges.

The ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and coordinate with relevant authorities as preparations for the resumption continue.
