ABUJA — Bashir el-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has disclosed in a now-deleted post on X that he keeps guns and knives at his bedside.
Bashir made the statement on Saturday during a heated exchange on the social media platform involving his brother, Bello el-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The online dispute centred on family and political disagreements, with Bashir publicly criticising his brother over his recent political activities and relationship with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Bashir accused Bello of abandoning the family while maintaining an association with Sani, who succeeded their father as governor of Kaduna State.
The exchange escalated after Bashir alleged in one of his posts that Bello had previously told him to kill himself.
“Telling me to kill myself,” Bashir wrote in the post while referring to the alleged statement by his brother.

“Let him try. I keep guns and knives at my bedside,” he wrote.
