ADC presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to consistently challenge the Bola Tinubu administration, which he accused of driving Nigerians into deeper hardship.
Atiku, through his media aide Phrank Shaibu, said the economic policies of the present government have weakened the buying power of ordinary citizens.
Reacting to claims of disrespecting the presidency, Atiku said a leader who subjects citizens to pain should be able to tolerate criticism.
He stated that respect is earned through performance and empathy, not forced through intimidation, and that the opposition does not need to wait until election season to speak up.
“If policies that cause hardship are implemented daily, they deserve to be questioned daily,” he noted.
He described the current economic situation as more than temporary discomfort, citing the struggles of traders, jobless graduates and hungry families, and faulted the petrol subsidy removal for lacking adequate palliative measures.
