The National Orientation Agency has warned residents of Kaduna State against self-medication and concealing symptoms following the confirmation of an Ebola virus disease case in Abuja.
NOA Kaduna State Director Danjuma Makama issued the warning in a statement released on Thursday by the directorate’s Head of Communication and Media, Linda Michael.
Makama urged anyone experiencing symptoms suspected to be linked to Ebola to seek medical attention immediately rather than attempting to treat themselves.
Residents were also asked to cooperate with health workers conducting screening, disease surveillance and contact tracing.
“Public safety depends on accurate information and responsible action. By staying informed and cooperating with health authorities, we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities,” Makama said.
The agency advised the public to rely on verified information from health authorities and avoid actions that could hamper efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
It also urged residents to familiarise themselves with possible Ebola symptoms and promptly report suspected cases.

Ebola is a potentially fatal viral disease that can spread through direct contact with the blood or other body fluids and tissues of infected people or animals. Transmission can also occur through materials or surfaces contaminated with infected body fluids.
Symptoms can include sudden fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, weakness, fatigue and sore throat. Vomiting, diarrhoea, unexplained bleeding and bruising can also occur.
