Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has revealed that the break in his music activities this year followed the death of his mother.
The Afrobeats star, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who assumed that an album had kept him away from music.
“I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year,” Kizz Daniel replied.
The revelation prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, who offered prayers and words of encouragement to the singer and his family.
Kizz Daniel, also known as Vado D’Great, is known for songs including “Woju” and “Buga”.
The singer has previously spoken about personal loss, including the death of his father in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021.
In a 2025 interview, he also disclosed that his wife lost her mother in 2024 while discussing the personal experiences that influenced his song “Al-Jannah”.
