The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has opened a controlled process for candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to update the details on their profiles.
The revised policy takes effect Monday, September 21, 2026, according to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
Under the new arrangement, candidates can request a change of their registered GSM number, email address, or both, but only after undergoing identity and biometric verification.
JAMB had previously restricted such changes because of the risk of fraud, impersonation and unauthorised alterations to candidates’ records. The Board said improvements in identity authentication and biometric verification had now made it possible to relax the restriction while maintaining safeguards.
The service will be available only at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, including applicable State Offices.
Candidates must provide the new GSM number and/or email address and have a duly executed court affidavit scanned and ready for upload.
How to access the service
JAMB said candidates should first log into their e-Facility profiles using their existing credentials and select “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment” to pay the prescribed fee.
After payment, they are to visit a designated CBT centre and use the SIM Swap/eMail Change Quicklink.
The candidate will enter the profile code or existing GSM number and select “Fetch Details”, after which biometric verification will be conducted.
The required service can then be selected — GSM number, email address, or both. Candidates will enter their new details, upload the scanned court affidavit and select “Update”.
A confirmation message will appear when the change is successfully completed.
JAMB stressed that the facility is available to each candidate only once and should be used strictly for genuine cases.
The Board also warned candidates against using unauthorised outlets, saying the verification requirements were designed to protect candidates from impersonation and fraudulent alterations.
JAMB said the policy review was aimed at ensuring candidates who genuinely lose access to their registered credentials are not excluded from subsequent UTME-related processes because of circumstances beyond their control.
