Kylian Mbappe has said winning the Champions League with Real Madrid is his biggest priority after the club defeated Inter Milan 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
The France international scored in the first half, while Federico Valverde also found the net for Madrid. Carlos Augusto scored Inter’s goal after the break.
“The Champions League is even more important. I play for the club of my dreams,” Mbappe told CBS. “It’s really important for me to win the Champions League here in Madrid, I want it more than anything.”
The 27-year-old is among the nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or and believes he has a strong chance of winning the award after scoring 10 goals at the 2026 World Cup.
Mbappe has yet to win a major club trophy since joining Real Madrid two years ago. Madrid were eliminated by Bayern Munich in last season’s quarter-finals.
He said the team must improve collectively to compete with the best teams.
“It’s really early. We just started the Champions League now, we started with a win.”
“We want to be a collective, we want to be a team who can compete with all the best teams in the world.”
“At Real Madrid, you always have to be at the top. I hope this year we’ll compete as a collective, to be where we want to be,” he added.
