LODZ — Colombia captain Juana Ortegon says her side is now fully focused on Nigeria after booking a quarter-final ticket at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Colombia beat hosts Poland 1-0 in a keenly contested Round of 16 encounter on Thursday.

The game was heading for extra time before Poland conceded a late own goal. Mariana Silva crossed the ball across the face of goal and Martyna Bartczark turned it into her own net.

Ortegon praised the fighting spirit of her teammates after the match and said the focus has shifted to Nigeria.

“We will play match by match. We are very happy to be in the quarter-finals, so we will think about Nigeria first, but this team will always compete to win,” she told FIFA.

“Our dream is to win the world title, but we’re going match by match.”

Colombia will face Nigeria for a place in the semi-finals on Sunday.
