Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has announced his squad for Friday’s LaLiga meeting with Real Betis at La Cartuja Stadium, with several of the club’s leading attacking and midfield players included for the encounter.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham are among the headline names selected by Mourinho, while Yan Diomande has also been included as Real Madrid prepare for another league fixture.
Madrid go into the match looking to build on their previous LaLiga result, having defeated Malaga in their last league outing. The latest fixture provides Mourinho’s side with another opportunity to maintain their strong start to the campaign and keep pressure on the teams competing at the top of the table.
Real Madrid currently occupy second place in LaLiga with nine points from their opening three matches. They have won all three of those games and trail leaders Barcelona only on goal difference, leaving the Madrid side level on points with the defending league leaders.
Mourinho’s selection contains options across every area of the pitch, with Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin and Javi Navarro named among the goalkeepers. The defensive group features a mixture of established players and other squad options as the team prepares for the trip to face Betis.
The defenders selected are Dean Huijsen, Trent, Konate, Cucurella, Carreras, Antonio Rüdiger, Dumfries and Mario Rivas. Mourinho will therefore have several options available as he decides on the defensive combination for the LaLiga encounter.
In midfield, Jude Bellingham leads a group that also includes Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Arda Güler, Bernardo, Cestero and Sergio Martínez. The selection gives Mourinho a range of options for controlling possession and providing support to the attacking players.
The forward line includes Vinicius Junior and Mbappe, alongside C. Espi, Brahim and Yan Diomande. The presence of Mbappe and Vinicius gives Real Madrid two of their prominent attacking options for a match in which the club will be seeking another positive result.
With the two Madrid and Barcelona separated only by goal difference at the top of the standings, Friday’s fixture carries importance for Mourinho’s side. A victory would allow Real Madrid to maintain their perfect points tally and continue their challenge for the league leadership.
