Nigeria’s Falconets have lined up international friendlies against Poland and South Korea as part of their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The warm-up matches are expected to provide head coach Moses Aduku with an opportunity to assess his squad, fine-tune tactics and build momentum before the biennial tournament gets underway in Poland.
The team is currently in training camp in Abuja, where preparations have intensified ahead of their departure for Europe.
Final preparations in Poland
The Falconets are scheduled to leave Nigeria for Poland on Monday, August 24, where they will complete the final phase of their World Cup preparations.
During their stay, the team will face host nation Poland and South Korea in friendly matches designed to test the squad against different styles of play before the tournament begins.
The coaching crew is expected to use the games to evaluate combinations across the team and make any necessary adjustments ahead of the opening group-stage fixture.
Tough Group F challenge
Nigeria has been drawn in Group F, alongside Spain, China and New Caledonia, setting up a challenging path to the knockout rounds.
The Falconets will begin their campaign against Spain at the Arena Sosnowiec on Monday, September 7, in what is expected to be one of the group’s biggest fixtures.
Three days later, they will return to the same venue to take on China in another crucial encounter that could prove decisive in the race for qualification.
Nigeria will conclude its group-stage campaign against New Caledonia at the Stadion Miejski ŁKS on Sunday, September 13.
Falconets chase another strong World Cup run
The Falconets remain one of Africa’s most successful teams at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, having consistently reached the latter stages of the competition over the years.
With preparations now entering their final phase, the Nigerian side will be hoping the friendlies against Poland and South Korea provide the sharpness needed to compete strongly in Group F and challenge for another memorable run on the global stage.
