YOLA, Nigeria (DGR News) — The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Abubakar Musa, over the alleged killing of a 30-year-old resident of Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday, saying the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare by Grace Yusuf, the deceased’s sister.
According to the police, the complainant alleged that her brother, Nathaniel Yusuf, was attacked by the suspect.
Police operatives responded to the distress call, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta for emergency treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and head, after he was allegedly assaulted with a stick.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save him, Yusuf later died while receiving treatment, the police said.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case for a comprehensive investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
Police said the deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy, while investigations continue.
The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to remain law-abiding and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
