The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The EFCC announced the declaration in a notice issued on Wednesday and signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
The commission identified Maina as 61 and an indigene of Biu, Borno State.
It urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact any EFCC office, the nearest police station or other security agencies.
The latest wanted notice comes years after Maina’s conviction in a separate financial crimes case.
He was arraigned by the EFCC in October 2019 on a 12-count charge involving alleged money laundering of more than N2 billion. Maina pleaded not guilty.
In November 2021, the Federal High Court in Abuja convicted him on multiple counts of money laundering and sentenced him to eight years in prison. The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in 2023.
Maina was later released from the Kuje Correctional Centre after serving his sentence.
The EFCC’s latest declaration relates to an alleged case of receiving stolen property and is separate from the earlier money laundering conviction.
The commission did not disclose further details in the wanted notice about the property allegedly received by Maina.
