The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to throw their support behind Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye, as she prepares for the final stage of the 73rd Miss World competition in Vietnam.
The Minister of Art and Culture, Hannatu Musawa, made the appeal as Nigeria’s representative continues her campaign at the international pageant. Karibi-George recently secured a place among the Top 40 contestants after emerging as Africa’s Top Model, strengthening her position ahead of the competition’s final stage.
The Miss World 2026 finale is scheduled to take place on September 5, with Musawa calling on Nigerians to support the contestant through the ongoing voting process.
Musawa Praises Soye’s Performance
In a message posted on X, the minister expressed pride in Karibi-George’s performance and commended the way she has represented Nigeria on the international stage.
Musawa said the contestant’s achievements had gone beyond the competition itself, pointing to her use of the Miss World platform to present Nigeria to a global audience and draw attention to issues affecting young people.
“Dear Soye, seeing you carry Nigeria’s name with such grace, confidence and purpose on the Miss World stage has made us incredibly proud,” Musawa wrote.
She described Karibi-George’s emergence as Africa’s Top Model and qualification for the Top 40 as a significant achievement, while also highlighting the broader visibility she has given Nigeria during the competition.
“Emerging as Africa’s Top Model and securing your place in the Top 40 is a remarkable achievement. But beyond the competition, you have used this platform to showcase Nigeria to the world, speak about issues that truly matter, and inspire so many young people,” the minister said.
Minister Calls for More Votes
Musawa also urged Nigerians to participate in the voting process, warning that the available window was approaching its deadline.
According to the minister, the remaining votes and points could be important to Karibi-George’s progress through the next stages of the competition.
“Nigerians continue to stand with you. There are just nine hours left to vote, and the window is closing fast,” she wrote.
The minister shared the voting link with her message and asked Nigerians to vote for Karibi-George while encouraging others to participate.
“Soye needs every vote and every point matters for the stages ahead. Voting link in my bio. Please, let’s come together, vote, share and encourage others to do the same. Queen Soye, Nigeria is behind you,” Musawa wrote.
Her appeal places the voting campaign at the centre of the final push for Nigeria’s representative as the Miss World contest moves towards its September 5 finale.
Soye’s Journey to Miss World
Karibi-George earned the right to represent Nigeria internationally after winning the Miss World Nigeria 2026 title on June 5.
She emerged from a national competition involving 37 contestants, securing the crown and subsequently becoming Nigeria’s representative at the global pageant in Vietnam.
Her performance at the international competition has since added further momentum to her campaign, particularly after she was named Africa’s Top Model and progressed into the Top 40.
The achievements have also renewed attention on Nigeria’s history at the Miss World competition.
Nigeria’s most notable success came in 2001 when Agbani Darego won the Miss World title, becoming the first and only Nigerian to win the global crown.
Karibi-George is now seeking to take Nigeria further in the 2026 competition as the finale approaches.

With the final scheduled for September 5, the Federal Government’s appeal is focused on mobilising public support for Karibi-George during the remaining voting period.
Musawa’s message highlighted both the contestant’s performance and the opportunity for Nigerians to contribute through their votes.

For Karibi-George, the journey began with her June 5 victory at the Miss World Nigeria 2026 pageant and has now taken her onto the international stage in Vietnam.
