Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured motorists and residents that the long-awaited Opebi Link Bridge will be opened to traffic before the end of September 2026.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday while serving as the keynote guest at the 7th Annual Lecture organised by Freedom Online Newspapers, where he provided an update on the progress of the project and the timeline for its completion.
According to Sanwo-Olu, construction of the bridge has entered its final phase, with workers currently concentrating on finishing activities ahead of its planned opening. He said the remaining work was focused on completing the structure and preparing it for use by motorists.
Sanwo-Olu’s announcement places the project on course for commissioning before the end of the month, giving residents who use the corridor a specific timeline for when the bridge is expected to become operational. The governor said the state government was determined to complete the remaining work and open the facility as scheduled.

“I want to assure you that the Opebi Link Bridge will be opened by the end of September. We are trying to install the ark on the bridge. We want to make it a tourist attraction,” Sanwo-Olu said.
