Amedspor Winger Yira Sor Set for Six-Week Absence After Hamstring Injury

Amedspor winger Yira Sor is expected to spend about six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during his side’s Turkish league victory over Trabzonspor.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury as Amedspor came from behind to secure a 2-1 win at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu on Monday night. His absence is expected to deprive the Turkish side of an important attacking option during the recovery period.

Sor had played a significant role in the comeback before being forced out of the contest. After Trabzonspor took the lead through Mohamed Salah, the Nigerian winger brought Amedspor level shortly before half-time, scoring in first-half stoppage time.

His involvement was cut short early in the second half, however, when the injury forced him to leave the pitch. Sor was replaced in the 49th minute by fellow Nigeria forward Gift Orban.

Orban subsequently completed Amedspor’s comeback, scoring the decisive goal in the 90th minute to secure all three points for the home side.

The injury is particularly untimely for Sor, who only recently joined Amedspor after making the move from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk last month.

Sor arrived as part of the club’s attacking plans under coach Besnik Hasi and had been given the opportunity to contribute immediately. His goal against Trabzonspor underlined his attacking importance, but the hamstring problem now means he faces an extended period away from competitive action.

A six-week recovery would keep Sor out for a significant portion of Amedspor’s upcoming fixtures, depending on the progress of his rehabilitation. The club will hope the winger responds well to treatment and can return without complications.

The circumstances of the injury also mean Amedspor will have to manage its attacking options while Sor recovers. His replacement, Orban, provided an immediate answer against Trabzonspor by scoring the late winner, giving Hasi another attacking option to rely on during the winger’s absence.

Sor’s immediate priority will now be rehabilitation and recovery rather than match involvement. The expected six-week layoff means the Nigerian will have to work his way back to full fitness before being considered for a return to action.

His first competitive appearance for Amedspor had already produced a memorable contribution, with the winger scoring the equaliser before the injury interrupted his evening.

The club will now monitor his condition closely as it prepares for the fixtures ahead, while Sor faces a period of recovery after making a promising start to his time in Turkey.
