KADUNA — Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has called on residents of the North-West to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027, arguing that the region should reciprocate what he described as the benefits it has received from the Federal Government with electoral support.
Sani made the appeal on Saturday through his Special Adviser on Politics, Abubakar Muhammad Mamadi, at the inauguration of coordinators and members of the “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria” support group for the seven North-West states.
The event brought together representatives from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara, with organisers describing the inauguration as the beginning of a broader grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Representing the governor, Mamadi said the North-West had benefited considerably from programmes and interventions introduced by the Tinubu administration. He specifically cited agriculture, education, youth empowerment and initiatives targeted at women as areas where the region had received government attention.
He said the level of intervention justified the call for political support, telling the newly inaugurated coordinators that the region should recognise what he described as the administration’s contributions when deciding how to vote in 2027.
“No region has benefited under Tinubu’s administration like the North, particularly the seven states in the North-West region,” Mamadi said on behalf of the governor.
Sani also charged the support group members with taking the administration’s achievements beyond political centres and major cities. He urged them to communicate the Federal Government’s programmes and policies directly to communities while mobilising support for Tinubu across the region.
The governor’s message placed particular emphasis on grassroots engagement, with the support group expected to establish a presence across communities in all seven North-West states as it works towards its stated objective of securing support for the President.
The convener of the group, Mike Auta, similarly called on members to intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the election. He urged coordinators to move beyond urban areas and engage residents in communities across the region.
Auta said the campaign should cover all parts of the seven states, stressing that members had a responsibility to take their mobilisation efforts directly to voters rather than limiting their activities to major cities.
“Go to all nooks and crannies of the states and mobilise the people. We must ensure victory for President Tinubu come 2027,” he said.
Women’s participation was also highlighted during the inauguration. The group’s women’s leader, Karima Abdullai, said women across the region had benefited from various cash assistance and empowerment programmes introduced under the Tinubu administration.
Abdullai encouraged women to support the President’s re-election effort, expressing confidence that continued political support for Tinubu would create opportunities for more women to benefit from government interventions.
Her remarks formed part of the group’s broader effort to build support among different sections of the population, particularly women who organisers said had been beneficiaries of the administration’s assistance and empowerment initiatives.
The campaign also included an appeal for patience with the Federal Government as it implements its policies. Farida Ahmed Bala, Director of Town Hall Engagement and Special Duties, urged Nigerians to remain patient, describing the current period as one focused on rebuilding and restructuring the country.
Bala compared the process of rebuilding Nigeria to renovating a neglected house, arguing that substantial national reconstruction could not be achieved instantly.
“Let us be honest with ourselves, rebuilding a nation is not easy,” she said.
She added that patience would ultimately contribute to progress and prosperity, urging Nigerians to give the administration time as it pursues its stated objectives.
The inauguration therefore combined political mobilisation with a defence of the administration’s record, as speakers pointed to government interventions in areas including agriculture, education, youth development and women’s empowerment.
The organisers said their immediate task would be to take the message to communities across the North-West and build support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The seven states covered by the mobilisation effort are Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara, making the initiative a region-wide campaign rather than one restricted to Kaduna State.
For Governor Sani and the support group, the central argument is that government interventions in the North-West should translate into political backing for Tinubu at the polls. The appeal comes as political groups begin positioning themselves and strengthening grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 election.
