Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on House of Representatives member James Faleke to respect the will of Osun voters, alleging that attempts were being made to influence the ongoing collation of results from the state’s governorship election.
The singer, who is a nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the appeal on Saturday through a post on his verified X account as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continued collating results from polling units across the state following the August 15 election.
Davido alleged that pressure was being placed on the electoral commission during the collation process and insisted that the final outcome should reflect the votes cast by residents rather than political influence.
Davido makes public appeal
In his post, the award-winning musician directly addressed Faleke, urging him not to interfere with INEC’s work as the commission processed results from across Osun’s 30 local government areas.
According to Davido, the wishes of voters should remain the deciding factor in the election.
“James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” he wrote.
The singer did not provide evidence publicly supporting his allegation that pressure was being exerted on the electoral commission.
