SAAPADE, OGUN STATE — DGR News has confirmed that eight students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, were abducted by armed kidnappers during a late-night attack along the Ipára Remo North Road near the institution, throwing the campus community into fear and prompting the suspension of scheduled examinations Thursday & Friday.
The attack reportedly occurred on Wednesday night 9 pm, when the armed men intercepted victims along the road, an area frequently used by students and residents.
Following independent checks and information gathered from multiple sources familiar with the incident, DGR News has confirmed that eight students are currently missing and are believed to have been taken away by the kidnappers.
The identities of the abducted students have not yet been officially released, and authorities have also not disclosed whether any ransom demand has been made.
Information available to DGR News indicates that panic spread rapidly across Gateway ICT Polytechnic shortly after news of the attack reached the campus. Many students reportedly remained indoors throughout the night, while parents and guardians expressed concern over the security situation around the institution.
In response to the incident, Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, suspended Thursday & Friday examinations as a precautionary measure to safeguard students while efforts continue to assess the security situation around the school and surrounding communities.
Students have called for increased security presence along the Ipára–Paraga Road and other routes leading to the institution, urging the government and security agencies to strengthen patrols to prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Ogun State Government, the school management nor security authorities had issued a detailed official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the abduction or announcing any rescue operation.
Security operatives are understood to be working to locate the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
