One Killed, Two Injured in Multiple Crashes on Kara Bridge

One person has been confirmed dead, while two others sustained injuries following multiple road crashes on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the first incident involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna vehicle.

Preliminary investigations by the FRSC indicate that excessive speed and loss of control were the likely causes of the crash.

The agency disclosed that while emergency responders were carrying out rescue and recovery operations at the scene, a second accident involving a commercial bus occurred, further complicating traffic flow along the busy highway.

The series of crashes resulted in the death of one person, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were attended to by emergency responders.

The incidents also triggered severe traffic congestion along the Kara–Ojodu Berger section of the expressway as recovery teams worked to remove the affected vehicles and restore normal movement.

The FRSC has advised motorists travelling through the corridor to avoid the affected route where possible and make use of alternative roads until clearance operations are completed.

The corps also urged road users, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to observe speed limits, maintain safe following distances and exercise caution to help reduce the risk of accidents on major highways.
