Fresh details have emerged on the security operation that led to the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted from Ahoro-Esinle, Yawota and Alawusa communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, with security sources attributing the success to sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated security action.
According to sources familiar with the operation, security agencies maintained weeks of surveillance and intelligence-driven efforts while intensifying pressure on the kidnappers through a series of strategic operations.
The sources disclosed that operatives of the Department of State Services worked alongside other security agencies to track the movement of the abductors and gather information on their network, hideouts and operational activities.
As part of the broader operation, security forces reportedly identified and apprehended several individuals believed to have links to members of the kidnapping group. Investigators subsequently carried out extensive interrogations aimed at obtaining intelligence that could assist in locating the victims and disrupting the kidnappers’ activities.
